Hurst
Hurst is named after its founder William Letchworth (Uncle Billy) Hurst, who allowed a railroad company to lay tracks on his land at the beginning of the twentieth century. His only condition was that a depot had to be established in the area as a stopping point between Dallas and Fort Worth. The Rock Island Station was built in 1903 and the city was officially named Hurst in 1909. Hurst is now known as one of the “mid-cities” and continues to grow and flourish.
